BSC in Finland

 

In the study, "Balanced Scorecard in Finnish companies: a research note", Teemu Malmi (2001),  investigated the state of the Blanced Scorecard use among finnish organizations. The study conducted on a sample of 17 Finnish companies suggested that the Balanced Scorecard is mainly used in two ways.

  • to manage by objectives
  • to use BSC as an information system

 

The study also provide evidence of a lack of understanding during the first BSC implementations in regards with the idea of linking measures together based on assumed cause and effect relationships.
